So when it comes time to put down roots in V Rising, players face a tough choice. In this big, beautiful world, where should they build? It’s a big decision and there are factors like size, nearby fauna, and waygates to consider. Taking it all into account, there is at least one location in each territory that stands out.
Farbane Woods
The only downside to building a castle in this location is that other players are pretty well aware of how good it is. Be ready to defend it very early. If players are present upon server creation, make booking it to this spot a priority. It’s a huge, flat chunk of land, so no tiles are wasted on stairs and layers.
There is a human settlement right outside, giving the vampire access to rare resources if they raid the place regularly. And it’s between many distant waygates, giving it a convenient transportation choice in between. Learn to build a castle from the ground up quickly to claim this spot before anybody else.
Silverlight Hills
This must be the most carefully considered castle goes, due to the popularity of the spot late in the game. Making silver coins is a priority for the endgame, so expect competition from fierce rivals. Still, staking out a claim here early is forward-thinking.

There is a spot in the northeast of this region where a castle could be built, but it has two drawbacks. The first is the aforementioned silver miners, who will regularly band together to destroy castles built here. Next is that the spot is quite small; a full castle is not feasible. Thankfully, after learning to use the waygates, there is a point here that works just fine, so a castle nearby is safer than a castle right on top of the silver nodes.
Hallowed Mountains
The Hallowed Mountains are mostly passed up by players due to a lack of unique resources. They’re fine for gathering stone, lumber, hides, and finding the occasional iron node, but most players only pass through here to use the waygate.
But that’s part of the beauty of building here. There’s a space with a lot of room and minimal traffic. The traffic that does come through will likely not see any castle here as a valid target. For those who are looking to build in a spot and then be left alone, take one of the mesas, clear out the wolves, and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Dunley Farmlands
If players can only build one castle, make it this one in the Dunley Farmlands. There is a dead zone for waygates in the northwest, so putting a castle down for the waygate alone is worth it. But when factoring in the environment, this is a gem of a location.

Unlike most other spots, this isn’t on a mesa, it can be plopped right on the ground, so build space won’t be an issue. Get a load of the nearby locations, with gems, quartz, horses, glass, mourning lily, and a variety of blood for players that have any combat style.
Cursed Forest
When it comes to farming high-level, rare materials, there is no better spot for a castle than the very northeastern part of the whole map in the Cursed Forest. The Ancient Village and the Spider Cave are home to some of the most valuable resources, and this castle has easy access to both of them.
This is a safe spot to build since there is no reason at all for players to be here except to build a base, no trail goes this way at all. Harvest a bit, come back home, then head back out. It’s not recommended for low-level players, even the wildlife here is deadlier-than-average, but experienced players will love it here.
