During an interview with The Ringer, Kamala Harris was asked numerous questions about her fascination with Wordle by someone who’s also a fan of the game. The Vice President confirmed that her Wordle streak is occasionally broken through travel, and it was once messed up by the move to The New York Times, but she’s currently sitting at a streak of 48 with a perfect score. Like how other Wordle fans have their own first words, Harris confirmed that her go-to word is “notes” because it includes a healthy mix of consonants and vowels.

Flexing her extended vocabulary, Kamala Harris admitted that it normally takes her four tries to figure out an average Wordle. However, she could think of at least one time when she got it right on the second try. “I have 100 percent, and I intend to keep it that way,” Kamala Harris said enthusiastically about the game while talking about the most recent Wordle. Harris also discussed times she and her husband have played Wordle together in which they asked each other about their guesses and progress in a competitive and friendly manner. Beyond playing the word game with her husband at home, Harris has also convinced some staff members to try Wordle, and it has become a joke among some members of her team.
Kamala Harris spoke openly about her nightly ritual including The New York Times’ crossword, Sudoku, and occasionally Wordle too, but stated that Wordle is more of a midday brain cleanser. Harris lamented the fact that The New York Times’ Spelling Bee is so much harder to access for free than Wordle and also confirmed that she can’t share her gray, green, and yellow squares each day from the phone she uses to play Wordle. With alternatives to Wordle like Yeardle, Brandle, ScrabWordle, and Bookdle popping up since the game blew up in popularity, Kamala Harris admits that she’s stuck to the original The New York Times game.
Although Kamala Harris stated that the last time she played Wordle was in Poland, the Vice President maintained that playing during travel is difficult, and she guesses words during downtime at home more frequently. Considering the roles of a Vice President, it’s understandable why Harris is unable to maintain a long streak, but even reaching 48 may be a testament to her dedication to The New York Times game on busy days. While Harris confirmed that she has a perfect Wordle score, a word may eventually come up that changes that impressive milestone, but she may currently be leagues ahead of the average player.
